The Boomerang is a medium-sized, passive fauna species found in many biomes across the planet. It is extremely common and fairly easy to catch, especially at night when its activity levels drop due to its diurnal behavior.

Appearance

The Boomerang is a small fish with a bright yellow-green center and dark green stripes along the sides and edges of its body. It is horizontally symmetrical and, as its name suggests, shaped similarly to a real-life boomerang.

Long, slim, pointed fins protrude from the top and bottom of its body, extending diagonally backward. The tips of these fins emit a cyan bioluminescent glow. It has four eyes—two on each side of its head, positioned above and below its mouth. Although classified as a herbivore, it possesses sharp teeth used for eating coral.

Behavior

Boomerangs swim aimlessly around their environment. They will flee if approached by the player or shark-classified fauna. However, they are curious creatures and may swim toward small classified fauna.

Trivia

  • There is a subspecies of the Boomerang called the Magmarang, which resides in the Inactive Lava Zone.
  • The Boomerang dwells in more places on the map than any other creature.
  • Although listed as a herbivore, the data bank entry describes it as adapted to feed on corals, making it technically a corallivore.
