The Aurora's radioactive fallout will have devastating effects on the alien ecosystem if not contained within the next 24 hours." ― PDA, Dialogue+ +The **Crash Zone** is the biome in which the *Aurora* crashed, hence its name. It is characterized by rocky slopes, mesas at the southern parts, and deep trenches covered with sand, and is littered with debris from the crashed spaceship. This biome is one of the eeriest biomes due to its open spaces, murky brown water, ominous wreckage, and the presence of nine Reaper Leviathans. The Crash Zone is the largest biome in *Subnautica*.+ +## Main Crash Zone+ ++ +The Main Crash Zone is located on the easternmost part of the map, surrounded by a Kelp Forest, Safe Shallows, the Bulb Zone, a Mushroom Forest, the Crag Field, and a Grassy Plateaus.+ +There is a large amount of dry land on the eastern side of the Aurora which has plenty of debris and Metal Salvage. Also, flocks of Skyrays populate this area.+ +The Crash Zone possesses a distinct sandy, murky tint of water, and is nearly devoid of Flora, though the western part that borders the Safe Shallows shares some of its flora. The biome makes up for this, however, with a wide variety of fauna, most of which being predatory - including the dangerous Reaper Leviathans. The harvesting nodes typically found in the area make this biome a good source for raw crafting materials.+ +A portion of the Bulb Zone goes into the Crash Zone, near Aurora's front section. This small area contains a good amount of Limestone and Sandstone Outcrops. It is guarded by a Reaper Leviathan.+ +The safest way to cross the Crash Zone is to follow the Safe Shallows as close as possible, then stick to the shallowest parts of the area. If attempting to enter the Aurora, it only takes a brief trip through deeper waters, although a Reaper Leviathan can frequently be found west of the entrance. The "landing" inside is shallow enough to provide some safety for embarking and disembarking. It requires a radiation suit and ideally should be done with a Seamoth, as there is a radiation field around the perimeter.+ +### Story+ +In the cinematic trailer, it is revealed that Bart Torgal built himself a Seabase where the Aurora crashed. This reveals that the Crash Zone used to be a Safe Shallows-like biome, assuming that the cinematic trailer is canon. This seabase does not appear in game and was (if it existed) destroyed by the Aurora when it crashed.+ +All Data Boxes are found in Destroyed Lifepods:+ +* Creature Decoy+* Acid Mushroom+* Copper Ore+* Coral Tube Sample+* Gold+* Large Lead Deposit+* Large Titanium Deposit+* Lead+* Metal Salvage+* Quartz+* Salt Deposit+* Silver Ore+* Stalker Teeth+* Table Coral Sample+* Titanium+ +## Fauna and Flora+ +**Fauna:**+ +* Bladderfish+* Boneshark+* Boomerang+* Eyeye+* Holefish+* Hoverfish+* Peeper+* Rabbit Ray+* Reaper Leviathan+* Reginald+* Sand Shark+* Shuttlebug+* Skyray+* Stalker+ +**Flora:**+ +* Acid Mushroom+* Spotted Reeds+* Veined Nettle+* Writhing Weed+* Brain Coral+* Giant Coral Tubes+* Slanted Shell Plate+* Table Coral+ +## Points of Interest+ +### Power Transmitter+ +Located near the Aurora, this structure houses the Propulsion Cannon.+ +## Gallery+ ++*A deep point of the biome*+ ++*A huge sand dune in the area*+ ++*Silhouette of a Reaper Leviathan in the Crash Zone*+ ++*Some Spotted Reeds growing near the Aurora*+ ++*The small section of land on the western side of the Aurora*+ ++*The large eastern landmass*+ ++*Transitional area to the Safe Shallows*+ ++*A massive, underwater rocky mountain separating the Crash Zone Trench and the Grassy Plateaus*+ ++*Another rocky mountain near the Trench*+ ++*Rocky slopes bordering the Crater Edge*+ ++*A Reaper Leviathan swimming in the shallower waters of the Crash Zone*+ ++*Extended debris*+ ++*A distant Reaper Leviathan in the area*+ ++*The rough terrain in the southern part of the Crash Zone*+ ++*Another Reaper Leviathan*+ ++*The shadow of a Reaper Leviathan*+ ++*A strange formation in the eastern area*+ ++*Another rock formation*+ ++*A large piece of metal debris*+ ++*Some of the many resources and Fauna in the Crash Zone*+ ++*More Metal Salvage*+ ++*A peculiar area in the southernmost part where small trenches join up*+ ++*A massive sand dune*+ ++*The shallower areas of the Crash Zone*+ ++*Another view*+ ++*A Supply Crate in the Crash Zone*+ ++*Debris*+ +## Crash Zone Trench+ ++*The Crash Zone Trench*+ +The Crash Zone Trench is the area behind the Aurora, which the latter unearthed during its descent. It is divided into two sections: The shallow, western trench, and the deeper and wider eastern trench.+ +The biome is extremely barren, only hosting one Fauna species and no Flora or Coral in the biome. Although, the eastern trench contains many more fragments and some Supply Crates with either Batteries or a First Aid Kit in them. The area bordering the Kelp Forest and Grassy Plateaus is relatively more shallow than the rest of the biome, being an easy way to obtain the valuable fragments in the biome.+ +There are a total of 3 Reaper Leviathans in this area. One in the shallow trench and two in the deeper one.+ +**Resources:**+ +* Metal Salvage+* Quartz+ +**Fauna:**+ +* Reaper Leviathan+ +**Fragments:**+ +* Cyclops Bridge Fragment+* Cyclops Engine Fragment+ +### Gallery+ ++*The shallow border area in the region*+ ++*Border with the Kelp Forest*+ ++*Overview of the western trench*+ ++*Overview of the eastern trench*+ ++*Large boulders found in the trench*+ ++*A Reaper Leviathan in the region*+ +## Crash Zone Mesas+ ++*The Crash Zone Mesas*+ +The Crash Zone Mesas are located in the southern portion of the Crash Zone, near the Crag Field. The biome comprises six lively plateaus protruding above their surroundings, dotted amongst the barren dunes of the Crash Zone.+ +The Mesas harbor Flora not seen elsewhere in the Crash Zone, whether the lack of Flora elsewhere in the Crash Zone is due to the crash of the Aurora and subsequent irradiation of the area is unknown. A Reaper Leviathan patrols the area between Mesas two and three.+ +**Resources:**+ +* Coral Tube Sample+* Copper Ore+* Diamond+* Gas Pod+* Gasopod Egg+* Gold+* Large Salt Deposit+* Lead+* Lithium+* Metal Salvage+* Quartz+* Ruby+* Salt Deposit+* Silver Ore+* Table Coral Sample+* Titanium+ +**Fauna:**+ +* Bladderfish+* Biter+* Boneshark+* Garryfish+* Gasopod+* Hoverfish+* Peeper+* Rabbit Ray+* Reaper Leviathan+* Reginald+ +**Flora:**+ +* Redwort+* Spiked Horn Grass+* Tree Leech+* Violet Beau+ +**Coral:**+ +* Brain Coral+* Coral Shell Plate+* Green Table Coral+* Slanted Shell Plate+* Veined Shell Plate+ +### Gallery+ ++*Overview*+ ++*The side of another Mesa*+ ++*The first Mesa on a large sand dune*+ ++*Another Mesa*+ ++*A Brain Coral surrounded by Tree Leeches*+ ++*Some Coral Samples buried into the wall*+ ++*Two Violet Beau on a Mesa*+ ++*Some Spiked Horn Grass On a Mesa*
