Description

Scans the terrain outside the Cyclops.

Acquisition

Acquired From: Data Boxes

The blueprint for the Cyclops Sonar Upgrade must be retrieved from a data box first. The data boxes containing the blueprint can be found in Wrecks at the following locations:

  • Blood Kelp Trench Wreck
  • Bulb Zone Wreck
  • Grand Reef Wreck

Mechanics

The Cyclops Sonar Upgrade functions similarly to the Seamoth Sonar, but can be toggled on and off. Every ping, 10 energy will be drained from the Cyclops (0.5% when using the default power cells), and it pings every five seconds while active. This energy usage is not affected by the Cyclops Engine Efficiency Module.

Like all other Cyclops upgrades, it must be crafted at the Cyclops Upgrade Fabricator.

Tips

Use the sonar upgrade in areas where visibility is poor, to prevent collisions and help with navigation. For example, at night, at very deep locations, the blood kelp zone, and the lava zones. It is also useful to spot threats from far away especially in said areas, as they may be well hidden.
