Added unobtainable databank entries regarding Axum lore, the Observatory, and Contact Labs.
+The following databank entries are obtained from game files and are unobtainable or available only through console commands.+ +## Unobtainable or Cut entries+ +### [PLACEHOLDER] Contact Lab+ ++ +**Description:**+ +[PLACEHOLDER] This is an Axum site established to greet any Architects arriving on Proteus. (It was built by an Axum faction called the Soterists, who wanted to solve the climate collapse through alien intervention.)+ +It is meant to be VERY simple to build at EA1. Just a wall and some symbols. And if we can’t afford to get the symbols, it’s just a wall.+ +- Fiction+ +> The Axum discovered an Architect phase gate in orbit (well, actually, at the Lagrange point between Proteus and Apiary) and hoped they could signal the Architects to come save their planet from climate change.+>+> It was built to last for centuries, like the Crypter vaults.+>+> However, it was built by a different political faction than the Crypters—the Soterists.+>+> When the Architects arrived, the Axum intended for them to home in on signals from one of these labs. If the signals failed, the labs were built near sites of natural and cultural interest, like the Karakorum observatory and the Xanadu world tree. This lab wasn’t built right at the Xanadu world tree because the Crypters controlled that area.+>+> The labs were built underwater. There may be an above-water mast structure, if it has survived the centuries. We don’t need to build it now.+>+> The labs may be booby-trapped to destroy hostile aliens.+ +It is located in the Karakorum ‘farmland’ subregion, probably near a blight node.+ +**Source:** None+ +### [PLACEHOLDER] Observatory+ ++ +**Description:**+ +[PLACEHOLDER] The player spends all of Chapter 3 finding, powering up, and ultimately accessing this ancient Axum observatory and its attached Climate Lab.+ +Inside is a diorama of the Proteus solar system, as well as a star map which allows your PDA to determine your position in the galaxy. This will reveal that you are near the galactic core — further from Earth than any human has ever traveled, beyond any hope of communication or rescue.+ +Further up the Observatory is the Climate Lab, which reveals the recent history of Proteus, including the downfall of the Axum and their failed attempt to heal the Karakorum World Tree and stabilize this region’s ecosystem.+ +But you can’t get to any of this until you power up the observatory.+ +Success activates a diorama of the Proteus solar system, as well as a star map which allows your PDA to determine your position in the galaxy. This reveals that you are near the galactic core, further from Earth than any human has ever traveled and beyond any hope of communication or rescue.+ +The attached Climate Lab computer reveals the recent history of Proteus, the downfall of the Axum, and the failed attempt to heal the World Tree to stabilize this region’s ecosystem. It is THE big payoff for the EA1 story.+ +So what are we actually going to put here?+ +**Source:** None+ +### [PLACEHOLDER] Observatory - Inner Sanctum+ ++ +**Description:**+ +[PLACEHOLDER] The Observatory itself contains two setpieces.+ +The first is the **orrery and starmap.** This is a (stationary, for now) model of the Proteus star system. Around the orrery are tiny lights on wires, representing nearby stars. Scanning this orrery allows your PDA to determine your location in the galaxy. This may be immediately revealed to the player, or it may be concealed until a later story beat.+ +The second is the **telescope.** This is just a cool scannable. Maybe later we let players build their own; who knows?+ +The Observatory is connected to the Climate Lab. To quote earlier writing:+ +> Centuries later, as the Axum began to understand the damage their rampant use of natural gas had done to their climate, the Viceroys (a group of leaders appointed to manage the crisis) ordered the construction of a long-term climate lab here. The ancient Observatory made a perfect foundation: it had already proven it could survive the test of time.+>+> The Climate Lab was built to last for centuries without maintenance. It’s a brutal, efficient, streamlined structure built of corrosion-resistant material. Maybe it’s made of teflon panels over a grid, like the Millennium Dome…+>+> Whatever the case, the Climate Lab should cling to the Observatory below with a kind of desperation…It’s almost a weapon. Its purpose is to measure the collapse of Proteus’ climate and give the Crypters (Axum hiding in hibernation) a signal when it’s safe to emerge—or when things have gotten so bad that more extreme measures need to be taken.+ +We do not have a good design for what happens inside the Climate Lab, but it should reveal things about the past and future of Proteus, and drive home that **this world is dying**.+ +To quote the design macro:+ +> Exploring further I enter what is clearly a newer part of the structure. Here there are many pieces of scannable alien technology. I learn about the alien computers, and the PDA infers that this was a lab built to study ongoing climate change. WIth the records it finds, it indicates that the planet has entered a late stage climate collapse, which the aliens were attempting to resolve. (NOTE: This assumes player has scanned axum language in the city. If not, they have to continue to find samples to learn the language enough to decode the message)+>+> It is unclear where the aliens have gone, but there seems to be evidence they've moved in near the world tree, a creature that apparently used to be numerous and anchored life on Proteus. They were working on a solution to heal the last world tree, but the society fell apart before they could finish. Healing the roots and fighting the blight is only the first step of many if I want to save my new home, Proteus.+ +**Source:** None
