The Eido-Thea system is the star system in which the events of Subnautica 2 take place. It is a binary star system located near the pulsar PSR K1745-2856, which is situated rimward of the Djorgovski 2 globular cluster at the base of the Norma Arm in the Milky Way.
Composition
Based on the Orrery created by the Axum, the system contains two stars, seven planets, and three moons. The celestial bodies are described as follows:
- Eido and Thea: A pair of M0V class stars (red dwarf stars) in a contact binary at the center of the system. Eido and Thea are each approximately 0.57 times the mass of the Sun and have 0.5 its radius.
- Inner World: A small, rapidly orbiting world close to the stars.
- Elliptical Planet: A planet with an elliptical orbit that swings close to the stars, then climbs far outward.
- Apiary: A ringed gas giant (known to the Axum as Apiary) with three large moons, one of which is Proteus. Apiary has a mass approximately 1.1 times that of Jupiter, or 350 times that of Earth.
- Co-orbital Planet: A tiny planet sharing the orbit of the aforementioned gas giant, racing ahead of it.
- Rocky World: A large, rocky world.
- Inclined Ice Giant: A cold ice giant with an inclined orbit.
- Ringed Ice Giant: An ice giant with a very large ring system.

Trivia
- The star system is named after a minor figure in ancient Greek mythology called Eidothea, who is a daughter of the ancient sea god Proteus.
- Unlike the fictional Ariadne Arm, the Norma Arm and Djorgovski 2 globular cluster are existing locations.
- The pulsar PSR K1745-2856, however, is fictional.
- The binary nature of the star system was already shown in the "Take a Deep Breath" Gameplay Reveal Teaser (cf. minute 0:16).
