Compiled list of extraterrestrial locations, planets, and stations mentioned in lore across the Subnautica trilogy.
-# Extraterrestrial Locations+This page documents extraterrestrial locations mentioned within *Subnautica*, *Subnautica: Below Zero*, and *Subnautica 2* which do not appear as playable environments in the games themselves. -Extraterrestrial Locations are locations in the universe that are not of Earth, such as other planets, moons, or space stations. This page serves as a list of known stations and orbital bodies in the Subnautica universe.+## Eido-Thea System+The Eido-Thea system is the star system in which *Subnautica 2* takes place. In addition to the planets Proteus and Apiary, the system contains six other planets and two moons. -## Multi-Planet Systems+## Alpha671+Alpha671 is a planet mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* upon fabricating a Booster Tank:+> "Equipped with only a booster tank, Dr. Felicity Aman once escaped the underwater acid tentacle forest on planet Alpha671." -### 4546+The planet apparently hosts an aquatic, likely predatory lifeform known as **Acid Tentacles**, which grow in large numbers. -4546 is a star system located in the Ariadne Arm with at least 11 orbital bodies larger than Earth's moon. The system is outside of federation space and is therefore not owned by any Trans-Govs but is also not unexplored. One of these bodies is Planet 4546B, which is slightly smaller than Earth and is an ocean planet with a breathable atmosphere and great biodiversity. The planet is also host to a sapient form of life, the Sea Emperor Leviathan, as well as the non-native Architects.+## Apostikar+Apostikar is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. The nature of the location is unknown, but it is within human-explored space and hosts a native lifeform known as the **Putty Serpent**. -#### 4546B System+## Boreal 9+Boreal 9 is a planet mentioned twice in *Subnautica* and alluded to in *Subnautica 2*. The survivalist Craig McGill apparently once survived a crash-landing here. The planet features acid swamps. -4546B is known to have 2 moons orbiting close to the planet, one of which periodically causes solar eclipses.+It is most known for the recurring "Arachnid Kidney Poachers" (or simply "Kidney Poachers"), a possibly intelligent, though non-technological species mentioned in both *Subnautica* and *Subnautica 2*. -## Planets+## Byzantos-5+Byzantos-5 is mentioned by Robin Ayou in *Subnautica: Below Zero*. Robin apparently survived here for three months using only a knife, some rope, and her lucky PDA. Almost nothing else is known about the location. -### Auwell+## Caltwale Prime+Caltwale Prime is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. It hosts a lifeform known as the **Chromium Boar**, which has apparently become invasive on multiple worlds. -Auwell is an independent planetary research colony that supports life. The only mentioned form of native life on Auwell is the Auwellian toadworm and some form of leaf-bearing plant. Auwell is the planet where Robin Ayou, Sam Ayou, and their mother moved to when Robin was five years old. The colony was eventually shut down due to an accident that resulted in their mother's death.+## Deltar-6+ -### Boreal 9+Deltar-6 is a human-inhabited location mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero*. Vinh Pham's partner, Iriane, had recently begun living there and sent Vinh a postcard, which can be found in the Omega Base. -Boreal 9 is a planet characterized by its acid swamps. It is mentioned by the PDA in Subnautica as a motivational note. Known native life forms include arachnid kidney-poachers, tree-roaches and egg-laying starwhals, as well as a host of plant life such as stankroot. Because there are "tame starwhals" on the planet, it can be inferred that Boreal 9 was civilized or at least inhabited by humans. The planet is notorious for being a location of Craig McGill's adventures.+A mentioned area of Deltar-6 is the **Chirizain desert**, which has black sand. The postcard depicts a human city built from pale brown stone, situated between two carved cliff faces over the black sandy banks of a river. -### Byzantos-5+## Holt's Asteroid+Holt's Asteroid is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. It possibly represents the real asteroid [4435 Holt](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4435_Holt). It hosts an organism known simply as **giant geckos**. -Byzantos-5 is a planet where Xenoworx had Robin Ayou survive with limited resources.+## Lithton+Lithton is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. It hosts an organism known as the **electrode eel**. -### Deltar-6+## Mardon-14+Mardon-14 is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. It is a planet with multiple moons. The moons are host to an organism known as the **astral ray**. Given that the rays can be found on multiple moons, it is possible these rays are a spacefaring organism. -Deltar-6 is the planet that Vinh Pham's girlfriend Iriane mentioned on Vinh's Postcard.+## New Tārā+New Tārā was the site of a Mongolian one-way colony where Mogami Kinu formerly lived. It is highly probable that the world became overtaken by the Kharaa Bacterium, leading to Mogami fleeing. -### Obraxis Prime+## Nyos+Nyos is mentioned in the profile of Rauli Isotalo. Isotalo was apparently the sole survivor of an expedition to Nyos. -Obraxis Prime is a planet mentioned by the PDA in Subnautica. Little is known about it, except that it is infamous for a massacre which resulted in the removal of weapons from standard fabricators (with the exception of the Survival Knife).+## Obraxis Prime+Obraxis Prime is a location mentioned in *Subnautica* when the player crafts the Survival Knife. It was apparently the site of a massacre after a group of survivors on the planet fabricated weaponry from their survival blueprints. This event led to the removal of weaponry from standard survival blueprints, with the exception of the Survival Knife. -### Scott III+## Olympion+Olympion is mentioned in *Subnautica: Below Zero* in the databank entry for the Architect Body. It is a mountainous planet and home to an organism known as **shaggy goats**. -Scott III is a Mongolian-controlled planet. Due to the presence of a Xeno Prospecting division, it can be assumed that the planet sustained life. At one point in her career, Robin Ayou worked on this planet, though it's unclear what she worked as.+## Rakshasa+Rakshasa is mentioned in *Subnautica 2*. The atmosphere of Rakshasa contains organolead compounds which resulted in the deaths of an entire expedition, save for Rauli Isotalo. Melaku Sansar was amongst the dead; however, his blackbox was retrieved by Isotalo, allowing him to be reprinted. This event is cited as a key reason for the creation of the Biolab. -### Strader VI+## Sanjei Station+Sanjei Station is a Mongolian-controlled space station mentioned in *Subnautica*. The Aurora refuelled at the station prior to reaching planet 4546B. -Strader VI is an Alterra-controlled planet that was found to harbor a sentient, hivemind-forming life form. The discovery of this life form made the planet an important point in the field of biology, considering scientists stayed on the planet to research for at least two decades. Robin Ayou worked on this planet as a xeno-researcher for a large part of her life.+## Strader VI+Strader VI is a location mentioned in *Subnautica*. It is home to a kind of colony-forming, hive-minded organism that is the focus of the databank entry "What Can We Learn From the Hive Mind of Strader VI". -### Terra 17- -Terra 17 is a largely civilized Alterra-controlled planet. Little is known about the planet save that Alterra has set up controlled habitats on it for its citizens, implying the planet may not be naturally habitable.- -## Space Stations- -### City-Station 749- -City-Station 749 is an Alterra-controlled space station. The name implies it is about the size of a modern-day city. The station is known to possess Alterra-oriented schools. It is the location in which Sam Ayou and Robin Ayou were born.- -### Sanjei Station- -Sanjei Station is an Mongolian-controlled space station. Due to the way Second Officer Keen refers to it, it can be assumed that the Aurora crew took advantage of the hospitality of the Sanjei inhabitants, acquiring free refueling and food in return for searching for the Degasi, a task they never intended to complete.- -### Vesper Station- -Vesper Station was an orbital station that was used by Alterra to monitor Planet 4546B and possibly other astronomical bodies like 4546B's moons. It was also responsible for salvaging the wreckage of the Aurora. The Vesper was later cut with the introduction of the new story after the Frostbite update.- -## Unknown/Unnamed Planets- -### Prawn Suit poster planet (land)- -- -This Prawn Suit poster depicts a planet that has rocky small islands and some kind of ocean. It is almost certainly not on 4546B, but other than that there's no evidence of what planet it could be.- -### Prawn Suit poster planet (sea)- -This Prawn Suit poster depicts the suit underwater in some ocean. Judging by the organisms in the background, it's not on 4546B. It may be the same planet the land variation of the poster is set in, but there's no in-game evidence of this.- -### Mercury II background planet- -- -The poster for the Mercury II shows a planet in the background. Nothing is known about this planet other than it was visited by the Mercury II at some point. It could possibly be territory of the Sol-Trans Gov, but there's no in-game evidence of this.- -### Architect Relics Origin Planets- -Many relics can be found in the Primary Containment Facility and Quarantine Enforcement Platform, one of which being of human origin with a few others pointing to contact with humans on Earth around the 13th century. It is not known if the other relics were from other planets or created by the Architects.- -### Potato's Planet- -- -A picture frame of Robin Ayou's pet cat Potato shows a planet similar to Earth containing similar flora.- -## Trivia- -* "Obraxis Prime" and "Strader VI" are references to Subnautica developers Scott "Obraxis" Macdonald and Cory Strader.-* "Scott III" may also be a reference to Scott Macdonald or another Subnautica developer, Scott Thunelius.+## Terra 17+Terra 17 is mentioned by an Alterra citizen named George in *Subnautica* in a PDA titled "Alterra Citizen Testimonials". It features a controlled habitat in which humans live, though very little is known of it.
