Critical for any base. | The **Hatch**, also known as the "Super Barrique Selective Passage Portal", is a base module constructed with the Habitat Builder to provide an entrance and exit to a seabase. +![Hatch](Hatch.png)+ ## Recipe The recipe is unlocked by default once the Habitat Builder is unlocked. | Ingredient | Amount |-| :--- | :--- |+|---|---| | Titanium | 1 | | Quartz | 1 | -*Crafted using: Habitat Builder*+**Crafted at:** Habitat Builder +## Appearance+ +The Hatch is a circular portal enclosed by a white, solid ring. On the outside, a yellow rail surrounds the outermost edge while a smaller, yellow two-thirds rail follows the interior edge near the portal opening. The inner rail leaves a gap at the bottom.+ ## Purpose The Hatch provides an entrance and exit point to a Seabase. * It can be placed on the sides of Rooms and Corridors, as well as the end of a Corridor. * It **cannot** be placed on the top or bottom of Rooms or Corridors. * In Multiplayer, several Players can use the Hatch at the same time. -## Databank Entry+## Databank > **Hatch** > > The "Super Barrique" selective passage portal allows for simultaneous two-way, multiple-crew traffic between a pressurized interior and a dangerous exterior. This eliminates the need for lengthy mechanical cycles which can interrupt traffic and reduce the joy of free motion. > > * Heavy duty nanomembrane: molecular machines clasp hands across the entire surface of the hatch > * Sapphire laser systems provide energy and programming > * Membrane accepts crew members and cargo, while rejecting pressure and intruders > * Filters loose biomatter: great for Kharaa monitoring > > The membrane is only slightly weaker than solid titanium. In the event of a power loss, the nanomachines can sustain their grip for days. A mechanical iris is optionally provided to seal in the event of a long-term power failure. > > Instances of limb amputation or removal due to membrane error have been entirely eliminated from the design. > > *Source: Fabricate a Habitat Builder* ## Trivia -* The decision to redesign the hatch to include a bidirectionally permeable nano-membrane, as opposed to the mechanical hatches of previous games, was made to better account for multiplayer.+* The decision to redesign the hatch to include a bidirectionally permeable nano-membrane, as opposed to the mechanical hatches of previous games, was made to better account for multiplayer.
