The Heat Pipe is an Axum thermal component of the Karakorum Power Plant that generates electricity from the heat of the Titan Rockbore below. It must be turned on to reignite the power plant, which can only be done once the blocking Angel Comb is cured. It is operated using the controls at the nearby Lower Control Room.
Databank Entry
Source: Scan the Heat Pipe below the Karakorum Power Plant
This pipe once channeled hot water from the titan rockbore below into the turbine above, spinning it to generate electricity. Water flow has been obstructed by bloom growth, preventing the pipe from connecting to the rockbore.
Deposits of corrosive fission products (or "crud") in the pipe indicate that the water flowing through it was once expelled from an active nuclear fission reactor. The water in the rockbore below is now significantly less radioactive, suggesting that the fission source—whatever it might be—has died. The pipe has not been used for at least two centuries.
Assessment: Treat bloom growth, then extend pipe to return power plant to operation.
