The Juvenile Vent Garden is a leviathan class fauna species found in the Tree Spires. It is the juvenile form of the Vent Garden. Unlike its larger, adult counterpart, it is not stationary or anchored.

Appearance

Although the Juvenile Vent Garden looks similar to its bigger counterpart, it has some differences. It is far smaller, and cannot be entered through the bottom opening. While it still contains the platforms within its membrane, the creature has neither sand accumulation nor any flora within. Its interior mushrooms are tilted. It also lacks the branching red structures that anchor the adult Vent Gardens' tentacles to the floor. Instead, its tentacles move in a swaying motion.

Behavior

Unlike adult Vent Garden specimens, Juvenile Vent Gardens are free-swimming, rather than anchored in one location. They can be found drifting around the Tree Spires in small groups.

Databank Entry

Juvenile Ventgarden Ency

Roughly 20m long, the Juvenile Vent Garden represents the immature life stage of the fully-grown, established Vent Garden. This gentle giant appears to swim in aimless, looping circles around mature Vent Gardens.

  • Swimming: While their swimming can seem directionless at first glance, the young Vent Garden is actively growing and strengthening its tentacles for when it finds a vent upon which to anchor and mature.
  • Bell: The bell of the juvenile vent garden remains sealed until it anchors over a vent. Once anchored, the heat and pressure activate a cluster of latent stem cells that develop into an opening over the course of a few months.
  • Assessment: Docile - Not a threat.
