RUBY: I'm gonna duck the Tadpole under this debris here. You okay out there? Want to say anything for posterity?

ZIP: Right. [clearing throat] Lead salvor Tziporah Malk. Crash assessment. We're following the Cicada's debris northeast. I think the ship was breaking up before it hit atmosphere. The AISV Aurora came down intact after a direct hit by a space mine—

RUBY: I heard it was an alien particle beam.

ZIP: Depends whether you believe Robinson's book or the Mongolian rumors.

RUBY: The lie, or the truth.

ZIP: Either way, Aurora held together until impact. Why didn't we? The Cicada had a solid keel.

RUBY: Hey, get a scan of that. Radiothermal generator...might be a probe power supply. There might be a robotics bay nearby...and FROG suits.

ZIP: Steer 045. I'll keep scanning.

RUBY: Nice out here, isn't it?

ZIP: It's too cold.

RUBY: Sometimes I think we'd move faster this way. Keeping twenty-odd people alive at Habitat is a full-time job for nineteen.

ZIP: No way. Sophie says the mission is keeping 40,000 people alive. If that tree can thrive, so can we.

RUBY: Give me a minisub and one good man on sonar any day.
