![A underwater habitat.](wiki-images/4a/4aedb07543044943cc687cc4444daa17.png) **Seabases** are installations created by the player through the use of the [Habitat Builder](Habitat_Builder.md). Not to be confused with Pioneer Seabases. A Seabase provides an area where the Player can return for oxygen and serves as an alternative to the Lifepod as a base of operations. Within a seabase, the player can construct additional storage space, access appliances not available in the Lifepod, and add aesthetic options. Thus, seabases provide safe havens away from the Shallows the player starts in. The player will start with most of the blueprints they need for a basic Seabase, but many more Blueprints can be found which allow additional module types to be created. The initial compartment must be built on or near the ground but any additional compartments can overhang without any issue, allowing bases to be built over cliffsides. -## Energy Usage+## Energy [Energy](Energy.md) can be provided to a Seabase by building various types of generators near or inside the Seabase. Any number or combination can be used. Appliances such as the Fabricator will drain energy from the Seabase. There are currently four generators available to power Seabases:-* [Solar Panel](Solar_Panel.md)s, which work best near the surface-* [Bioreactor](Bioreactor.md)s, which consume any organic matter for power-* [Thermal Plant](Thermal_Plant.md)s, which collect heat energy (use near Lava Geysers and Black Smokers)-* [Hydroelectric Turbine](Hydroelectric_Turbine.md)s, which generate power from streams of water+* [Solar Panel](Solar_Panel.md)s, which work best near the surface;+* [Bioreactor](Bioreactor.md)s, which consume any organic matter for power;+* [Thermal Plant](Thermal_Plant.md)s, which collect heat energy (use near Lava Geysers and Black Smokers);+* [Hydroelectric Turbine](Hydroelectric_Turbine.md)s, which generate power from streams of water. +Energy is required for the base to provide [Oxygen](Oxygen.md).+ Seabases do not require energy to operate in Creative Mode. ## Oxygen -Seabases automatically produce [Oxygen](Oxygen.md) as long as there is power supplied. If the power is depleted, the Seabase will slowly lose oxygen until it is completely gone.+Seabases automatically produce [Oxygen](Oxygen.md) as long as there is power supplied. If the power is depleted, the Seabase will stop producing it, and the Player will start losing Oxygen while inside. ## Refunding Bases -In the menu, there is the option to "Refund Bases". This feature is intended to resolve Early Access bugs that break bases or render them unusable. Selecting the option to Refund Bases opens up a secondary menu that shows a list of the player's bases with each base's total area and any notable modules that may be built inside them. The menu offers the option to "Look At" or "Refund" individual bases. The Look At option simply points the player's camera in the direction of the base.+Inside the pause menu, there is the option to "Refund Bases". The Look At option simply points the Player's camera in the direction of the base. -The player can Refund a base from anywhere, whether inside or outside the base. Selecting the Refund option on a base immediately deletes the entire structure and all modules, including exterior and interior modules, and places a [Beacon](Beacon.md) with storage in front of the player. The Beacon contains all resources used to build the base as well as any items stored in containers within the base. When the Beacon is emptied, it vanishes. The Beacon can hold any number of items in it, but will only display 35 items at a time until its storage is empty. Any dropped items within the base will be left exactly where they are and will likely float down to the ocean floor if not retrieved.+The Player can Refund a base from anywhere, whether inside or outside the base.
