When swiped, a blade swings out to cut materials. The backside of the hammer features a distinct orange coloring. The base of the tool encompasses a black rubber-like handle, as well as a hole in the middle of the base, most likely used to hang it. At the backside of the base, a small orange switch for the axe is present. ## Usage -- The Survival Multitool is primarily used to cut down lifeforms such as Dragon's Scale Coral and Feather Kelp to obtain resources like Fibrous Pulp and Coral Shavings. It can also notably be used to remove pouches from an Acid Raion, which allows the player to pick up the Medical Gel Sac safely. With the Multitool equipped, hovering over a resource that can be cut down with it will display a button prompt below the crosshair. -Like any other tool, the Multitool can be used to break small resource nodes with one hit, instead of the three hits it takes by hand.+Like any other tool, the Multitool can be used to break small resource nodes with one hit, instead of the three it takes by hand. The Survival Multitool can additionally be used for self-defense. When a creature is hit by the Survival Multitool, it will proceed to flee from the player. Certain creatures such as the Marrowbreach can be parried with the Multitool during their attacks in order to avoid damage. +Small creatures such as Halfmoons can be stunned temporarily when hit consecutively with the Survival Multitool.+ ## Fragments Fragments of the Survival Multitool can be found at the following locations: * Coordinates: X: -134505.16, Y: 450289.2 * Coordinates: X: -335817.88, Y: 393872.75 ## Databank Entry **OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS** Equip to quick-access toolbelt. Strike targets to shatter small resource deposits, cut samples, harvest material or drive off attackers. Cuttable targets trigger an icon in your HUD, prompting you to equip and use the survival multitool. **BACKGROUND** A downscaled civilian version of the combat-tested SR3 Stryker switch-axe, which TSF Frontiersmen use to hack apart kharaa infestation. The Frontiersmen learned that even hardened combat knives quickly lose their edge when wasted on sawing, prying, and percussive maintenance. Axes and hammers are more useful for breaking up resource deposits, and fine cut work like gutting or fiber-splicing can be left to fabricators. Alterra applied these findings to produce the all-titanium survival multitool, which features a longer lever arm and a solid hammer/pry claw for hand mining. A sharp reverse edge retains the knife's utility in cutting and self-defense (though this remains strictly a last resort). Despite protests from seasoned pioneers, such as celebrity survivor Rauli Isotalo, Alterra has replaced the standard knife with the survival multitool in the Cicada's basic fabricator offerings. Although all fabricators are capable of producing firearms such as the P-PLUS, M39K and G70GX, these weapons are only licensed for trained specialists such as TSF Frontiersmen. In the hands of untrained colonists, evidence indicates that firearms are most likely to be discharged against other colonists or the self. ## Gallery +### In Game+ ++ +### Development+ + ## Trivia * The Survival Multitool is largely inspired by the [Switch-Axe](https://naturalselection.fandom.com/wiki/Switch-Axe) seen in [Natural Selection 2](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural%20Selection%202), a game also developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
