Tadpoles were fabricated and maintained on this site, and saw frequent use during expeditions into the Karakorum Ruins. The Heat Tolerance Adaptation is necessary upon approach. Roughly 27 years ago, a group of Pioneers rallied here after a riot broke out at the Old Habitat. Nahema Nakota and Sophie Boucher subsequently took off with the pens’ last two Tadpoles, leaving the rest of the group stranded and unable to access the locked parts of the base. An effort was made to recover Zip's Kurul Level Access Key from the nearby hot caves in order to get past the locks, however, everyone involved would end up dying, with only Twinkle and Ganzo being reprinted. ## Exterior ### Main Structure-The outside of the structure has scans for Power Transmitter, Tadpole, Hydroelectric Turbine, and Spotlight.+In comparison to other seabases and even its own substructures, the Tadpole Pens have remained structurally sound over its decades of abandonment. A couple of Currents pass through the surrounding area, with several Hydroelectric Turbine fragments found alongside them. +A Spotlight can be scanned above the main entrance. Adjacent to the hatch is a platform used for storage, with the largest crates containing Tadpole fragments, though only one is accessible. There is also a Power Transmitter fragment on this platform, as well as two Notes displaying the same warning message.+ ### Northern Substructure-The north section contains a data card with the message "NAHEMA: We must voluntarily die" and a Moonpool data card, as well as scans for Lab Chair, Trashcan and S Shelf.+To the north, or left of the main structure, is a small substructure consisting of a single room, which has collapsed after the ground seemingly gave way. In front of the substructure is a small crate containing an Titanium Ingot, and one of the Hydroelectric Turbines can be found near the back. +Inside the substructure, there are scans for the Lab Chair, S Shelf, Trashcan, and the Rectangular Ceiling Light. In the top right corner is a Recipe Data Card for the Moonpool, and in the bottom right corner is the Nahema - "We must voluntarily die" Databank entry.+ ### Southern Substructure-The south section has scans for Power Cell Terminal, Trashcan, Processor and a data card containing Small Crate, Wall Panel, Wall Unit Large, Wall Unit Small, Wall Vent and Wall Vent Large. It also contains a data card with "RUBY: Tadpole ops guide".+To the south, or right of the main structure, is another, more substantial substructure consisting of a single room and a few, short corridors. Like its northern counterpart, this substructure has also sunk into the terrain. The Ruby - "Tadpole ops guide" entry can be found next to the water current outside. +Inside the substructure, there are scans for the Power Cell Terminal, Processor, and Trashcan. There is also a Recipe Data Card containing the blueprints for the Small Crate, Wall Panel, Wall Unit Large, Wall Unit Small, Wall Vent and Wall Vent Large.+ ## Interior ### Entry Room-The east section main room contains scans for Dining Table, Dining Chair, Stool, Trashcan, S Shelf, Tadpole and a data card for Half Round Room. It also has the Survivor - Waypoint 2 Databank entry, explaining that the access key to the door is on Zip's blackbox at the bottom of the hot caves.+The entry room is divided by archways into three sections. The middle section consists of an empty, open space, with a doorway leading to the Moonpool and a small crate containing a Tadpole fragment. The right section is a small hangout area with scans for the Dining Chair, Dining Table, Stool, Trashcan, and Wall Light Small. On the table in front of the couch is a Recipe Data Card for the Half Round Room. The left section is a small storage area, with the Ganzo - "Waypoint 2" entry sitting on a crate, as well as another scan for the Wall Light Small. Continuing down this path, there will be a note left by Sophie explaining why she has restricted access to the rest of the base. The player will need to find the Kurul Level Access Key from Zip's blackbox before they can continue down the corridor. ### Moonpool-The flooded moonpool contains scans for Trashcan, Lab Chair, Wall Light Small, Scout Ray Chassis, Tadpole, Power Cell Terminal and a Moonpool data card.+The Moonpool has room for two Tadpoles, though only one dock is currently occupied. The docked Tadpole is unusable, but has a Scout Ray Chassis attached, which can be scanned for its blueprint. +To the right is a small workstation with more scans for the Lab Chair, Trashcan, and Wall Light Small, as well as another Recipe Data Card for the Moonpool. To the left are some crates and a Power Cell Terminal.+ ### Workstations-The locked room contains scans for Power Storage, Lab Chair, Trashcan, S Shelf, Dining Chair, Dining Table, Repair Tool, Scout Ray Poster.+Once the player has acquired the Access Key, they can be scanned at the corridor left of the main entrance and be granted access to more of the base. Here, there are more furniture scans, including a scan for the Scout Ray Poster and Power Storage. A Repair Tool fragment can be found on the desk situated in a Nook. ### Axum Supply Closet-A small closet within the locked room contains scans for Small Axum Jar, Axum Jar, Tall Axum Jar, Coral Jar and Small Coral Jar.+Moving forward in the unlocked room and turning right, the player can find a small closet filled with various Axum artifacts, including the Small, Tall, and regular sizes of Axum Jar, as well as the Small and regular sizes of Coral Jar. The Axum Wall Lamp and two unscannable Tailing tools can also be found here. ### Observation Deck-The upper Terminal room is not flooded but contains no scans.+A ladder in the unlocked room leads up to the observation deck, where there are only two objects of note: the resident NoA unit, and a connected Biobed containing the ghost of Sophie Boucher. ## NoA Terminal The NoA terminal at the Tadpole Pens can be booted up. To read its dialogue, see Pens. ## Blueprints & Fragments -The following blueprints and fragments can be found at the Tadpole Pens:+The following items can be scanned or found as fragments within the Tadpole Pens: * Dining Chair * Dining Table * Half Round Room * Hydroelectric Turbine * Spotlight * Power Cell Terminal * Processor * Small Crate * Wall Panel * Wall Unit Large * Wall Unit Small * Wall Vent * Wall Vent Large * Lab Chair * S Shelf * Power Storage * Small Axum Jar * Axum Jar * Tall Axum Jar * Coral Jar * Small Coral Jar * Moonpool * Power Transmitter * Scout Ray Chassis * Stool * Tadpole * Trashcan ## Location -Located on the eastern edge of the Graveyard at a depth of 150m.+The Tadpole Pens are located on the eastern edge of the Graveyard at a depth of 150m. ## Databank Entries ### Tadpole Pens > A fabrication and maintenance site for Tadpole submersibles. We're stuck. > > We've voted, eight to one. We're going to go down into the hot caves. We all feel a pull there. We know it's a Masefield hallucination—yes, Twinkle, we *know*—but hey, Anita said, if we ask the world for help, maybe it'll answer. > > And it's not all crazy. There's a biobed at the base camp. And Zip...Zip died at the bottom of that cave. She had a kurultai access key that could get us through this lock. > > If you find this, we headed due southwest to the hot caves. Bearing [muttered] Hang on, Ruby. ### Nahema - "We must voluntarily die" > Media chipped or shattered. We failed Earth, so we fled to the stars. Now, like the Architects before us, we reap the whirlwind. > > We had to invent the lie of 'Masefield syndrome' in order to pathologize what our bodies already know is true - we do not belong on this world.
