It is probable that the Martyr was the first Axum astronaut, though they apparently died during the flight, earning their name. According to Pearl Flyer, The Martyr has a near-mythical status to the deep-dwelling Axum that Deep Bride comes from. The oracles of her people recount how the Martyr went to the "fields of the sky" after their death upon the *Heavenly Messenger*. Deep Bride herself wished to one day fly upon a space probe as the Martyr had. ## Relevant Entries -* Pearl Spawn - "A delight for supermarines"+* **Pearl Spawn - "A delight for supermarines"**: Databank entry related to this character.
