Its bores extend well beyond scanner range, and it seems to reach every [biome](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Biomes) in the explored regions. [Angel Combs](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Angel_Comb) feed off the Titan Rockbore, parasitizing it to create the [Proteavirus](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Proteavirus). ## Appearance -*(Section requires expansion)*+*Section requires expansion.* ## Databank Entry > **Source:** [Scan](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Scanner) the [Titan Rockbore](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Titan_Rockbore) This enormous colony organism (*Lithodont titanicae*) resembles a spinal cord protected by a thick crablike shell. It extends beyond scanner range in both directions, growing through fractures in the seabed rock. 1. **Hollow interior:** The interior of the bore contains at least two large flooded channels—one strikingly radioactive. The ancestral form may be a pyrosome (a sea squirt). 2. **Poor health:** Most of the zooids in the bore are dead, leaving only a mineral skeleton and a hydrocarbon-polymer shell. The interior channels have clogged. 3. **Unknown metabolism:** The bore has no apparent food supply. It may have derived chemical energy from minerals, but if so, its bacterial symbiotes have fled. It is starving. 4. **Viral activity:** The surviving tissue is infected with large RNA virus similar to Earthly giant sea viruses. The bore's anatomy includes receptor sites that encourage viral infection and reproduction. Further analysis required. **Assessment:** Entirely unknown organism - investigate further, determine origin and ecological niche. ## Gallery ### In Game ![A Titan Rockbore with a Bloom infected Angel Comb.](Titan Rockbore Part.png) *A Titan Rockbore with a [Bloom](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Bloom) infected [Angel Comb](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Angel_Comb).* ![An infected Titan Rockbore on the edge of the Shallows.](Titan Rockbore Infected 1.png) *An infected Titan Rockbore on the edge of the [Shallows](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Shallows).* ![A healthy Titan Rockbore in the Shallows.](Titan Rockbore Shallows 1.png) *A healthy Titan Rockbore in the [Shallows](https://wiki.subnautica.com/sn2/Shallows).* ![Angel Comb roots digging into the shell of a Titan Rockbore.](Titan Rockbore Shallows 2.png) *Angel Comb roots digging into the shell of a Titan Rockbore.* ![A Titan Rockbore emerging from the ground.](Titan Rockbore Shallows 3.png) *A Titan Rockbore emerging from the ground.* ### Other ![Loading screen art of the Titan Rockbore.](Loading Screen 1.png) *Loading screen art of the Titan Rockbore.* ## Trivia * The species name *"titanicae"* is shared with a real species of bacteria named *"halomonas titanicae"*, which was discovered at the sunken wreck of the *Titanic*.
