Veps

The Veps are a species of unknown lifeforms alluded to in messages left at the Axum Observatory. In these records, the Axum beseech the listener to seek out the Veps, stating that "the World Tree's genes live in them." A group of Axum known as the 'Vepherds' are suggested to have a close association with the Veps, though the specifics of this relationship are not currently known.

• The Veps were first mentioned in the Subnautica 2 Dev Vlog - Building Unknown Worlds, in which a folder labelled "VepZone" could be seen.
• The Veps themselves first appeared visually in the background of the loading screen seen above, used during Early Access.
• “Veps” is the Norwegian word for “wasp”.
