The Vortex Torpedo is a consumable, non-lethal ammunition that is used in conjunction with the Torpedo System Upgrade Module for the Seamoth and the Prawn Suit Torpedo Arm. The Vortex Torpedoes are loaded into the torpedo silos in the front of the Seamoth or into the Torpedo Arm of the Prawn Suit.
The Vortex Torpedo's payload is a small whirlpool that causes creatures to be pulled in and unable to move freely, similar to the effects of the Stasis Rifle. This can be used to immobilize aggressive creatures such as Stalkers, Sand Sharks, and even Reaper Leviathans, decreasing the player's chance of getting attacked.
When fired, the Vortex Torpedo will lock on to nearby creatures. If there is a Leviathan nearby, it will automatically lock onto it regardless of other nearby creatures.
