It is mostly found in the Grassy Plateaus and Safe Shallows. It has no use in the game and is purely cosmetic. The player can cut it with a knife to obtain Writhing Weed Seeds. These can be planted in an Exterior Growbed or an Alien Containment. It takes 600 seconds (10 minutes) for a mature plant to grow from the seed.+ +The Writhing Weed has 50 HP and can therefore be slashed 3 times, yielding a total of 5 seeds. The last slash destroys the plant and gives three seeds instead of one.+ +As mentioned above, the Writhing Weed is only meant for decoration and has no use in crafting, although its seeds can be used in the Bioreactor for 70 points of Energy each.+ +## Appearance+ +The Writhing Weed seems to be a cluster of small, purple, neon green tipped tentacles, capable of emitting bright bioluminescent glows. A species of coral can be seen at the base of the plant, being mostly blue with some occasional yellow, green and red parts.+ +## Data Bank Entry+ ++ +Well-adapted to both shallow waters and cave systems, this plant lives in symbiosis with a coral species which forms around the base of the stems.+ +## Gallery+ ++Day-time view+ ++Bioluminescence+ ++A Writhing Weed in the Bulb Zone+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Mushroom Forest+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Mushroom Forest Caves+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Grassy Plateaus+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Grassy Plateaus Caves+ ++A Writhing weed on a Reefback Leviathan+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Dunes+ ++Writhing Weeds in the Dunes Caves+ ++Size comparison with the Player and the Writhing Weed+ ++Closeup view of a Writhing Weed+ ++Writhing Weed in the Concept Art for the Safe Shallows+ +## Trivia+ +* The Writhing Weed was originally called the Purple Tentacle.+* The coral species located under the plant look similar to those found underneath on the Slanted Shell Plate.
