Booster Tank
Booster Tank is a special oxygen tank available exclusively in Subnautica: Below Zero. It allows the player to trade oxygen reserves for a temporary increase in swimming speed.
Overview
Equipped in the oxygen tank slot, the Booster Tank provides a speed boost when the Shift key is pressed. This increases swimming speed by approximately 0.5 m/s but consumes an additional 5 units of oxygen per second.
- Capacity: Shares the same capacity as the High Capacity O₂ Tank (90 units). When equipped together, the total oxygen capacity is 135 units.
- Movement Penalty: Equipping the Booster Tank incurs the same movement penalty as the High Capacity O₂ Tank (-0.47 m/s underwater and -0.61 m/s on the surface).
- Limitations:
- The boost only draws from the tank's actual oxygen reserve, not Robin Ayou's lung capacity (the final 45 units).
- The boost cannot be activated close to the surface.

Usage
To use the Booster Tank, equip it in the paperdoll UI's oxygen tank slot. Press Shift while submerged to activate the thruster. The tank utilizes highly compressed air to ignite a small thruster, propelling the wearer forward. Environmental conditions such as atmospheric density and gravity rating impact kinetic energy transfer.
