The Crab Tower is a large, anomalous Coral Dome growth located in the Shallows, north of the Lifepod.
The tower is named for the Crab Teratomas within the domes, which Ander hypothesizes is the result of the coral attempting to turn into a Coral Crab.
Overview
Tower
The Crab Tower is a large coral mass similar to the Spider Dome, though smaller and more lumpy in appearance. Limbs are present, though they are stubby and embedded in the ground, as opposed to the Spider Dome's longer, freestanding "legs."
The usual sessile Shallows lifeforms—Cradle Shootroots, Curtain Gorgons, Dragon's Scale Corals, Mimic Pylons, and Pents—are found around the tower, as well as broken-off pieces of coral. The tower itself has Branching Coral growing on the outside.
Inside of the tower are Crab Teratomas, freakish masses of purple coral sprouting crab limbs that branch from one mass to the other. Aside from these, the usual Quartz found in domes is still present.
Worksite
East of the tower is a small Pioneer worksite constructed beneath an arched cave opening. Scattered around the worksite are scans for the Beacon, Wakemakers, and Flashlight, with the latter two found in crates.
On the platform proper is a Portable Locker on the floor, Copper Wire on the table, and a Nutrient Block in a crate. Next to the Copper Wire is a Note from Mantis, and on the other table is the Databank entry Ander - "Crab Tower Report."
A cable leading out from underneath the platform can be followed, leading to an expansive cave system underneath the tower. Players should be wary as they enter, as a Toxic Sponge is found right at the entrance.
