The Droopy Flip is an unimplemented anchored Lifeform that appears in the upcoming Tar Delta region.

Appearance

The Droopy Flip consists of a thin, dark-purple, and bony stem that attaches to a wall. This stem curves upwards and expands into a mushroom-like structure riddled with warts but with a smooth, pink top separated into multiple bulbous shapes by streaks of purple.

Behavior

The Droopy Flip does not react to the player's approach. When jumped on by a player riding a Bullfrog Workmech, the Droopy Flip falls down after a few seconds, dropping the Workmech. After a bit more time, the flip comes back up.

Databank Entry

Source: Scan a Droopy Flip

Diademimponentia ptosis, the droopy crown imponent. An extremely primitive animal, similar in some respects to Earth's Dickinsonia. It may be the sister of all Protean life with a central nervous system.

  1. Snow catcher The droopy flip anchors itself to walls on a flexible stalk and absorbs nutrients through its soft, sulcate upper surface. It has specialized tissues and nerve cells, but no developed organs. It cannot move or feel pain.

  2. Segmented body Most higher animal life is essentially a tube connecting mouth and anus. The droopy flip is not. Its only hole is its navel, from which it constantly grows new segments (or 'isomers') divided by a carbon-rich hydrogel lattice. This lattice may have evolved into the basement membrane of all higher Protean life.

  3. Stalk collapse To avoid stalk breakage, flips fall limp under pressure on the sensitive feeding surface. Do not place weight on the flip for more than a few seconds.

  4. Flip The name 'flip' was selected because the organism is an upside-down flop. The flop is imaginary. It is so theoretically tantalizing and yet so irrelevant to the immediate survival of the pioneer that it has been moved to a separate databank entry. Please indicate your consent to integrate new PDA data by selecting 'play'; otherwise disregard.

Assessment: capable of supporting weight, but only for a short time.
