Overview

The Habitat Builder is a handheld tool crafted using the Fabricator. It allows the player to build a variety of stationary items, serving as a crucial tool for deploying Seabases and customizing their interiors.

Description

With the builder tool, you can construct seabases from raw materials. Advising against exploring a frozen water continent without a base. No bed, no storage, no place to put a fabricator module, no fun. ― PDA

The Habitat Builder requires a Battery to operate. Objects cannot be constructed or deconstructed if the battery is depleted. Players can also use the tool to deconstruct structures they have placed; all raw materials are returned to the inventory, provided there is space.

Usage

To use the Habitat Builder:

1. Open the Habitat Builder menu.
2. Select the desired tab:
   • Base Pieces
   • Exterior Modules
   • Interior Pieces
   • Interior Modules
   • Miscellaneous
3. Select an item.
4. Point the Habitat Builder at the desired location until an outline appears.
5. Use the Up and Down Mouse Wheel (or D-Pad) to rotate the object if applicable.
6. Place the outline.
7. Continue building the item by holding the correct key.

Placed items can be deconstructed by pointing the Habitat Builder at them and holding the proper button (indicated by "Hold Q to Deconstruct" on screen). This returns all resources used in the building process.

Recipe

The fragments for the Habitat Builder can be found at a Tech Site in Twisty Bridges, at the Delta Station, on a cargo crate next to Outpost Zero, and in the Koppa Mining Site. It is crafted in the Fabricator.

• Interior Modules: Fabricators, rechargers, storage lockers, beds, etc.
• Miscellaneous: Jukeboxes, decorations, and other utility items.

Quick Start Guide:

1. Select the basic compartment from the builder menu and place it somewhere opportune
2. Add a hatch to access the compartment
3. Build a solar panel to power the habitat's oxygen generator
4. Construct useful interior modules like radios, rechargers and storage solutions

Primary habitat systems like oxygen generation and flood control, as well as modules like the fabricator draw power and will not function without it. Additional compartments reduce overall hull integrity, depending on the external pressure.
