The Parallel Processing Unit is an electronic item used to craft the Test Override Module. Its primary purpose is to deactivate the signal tower on Delta Island, a critical step required to progress with the story.

Acquisition
The blueprint for this item is unlocked by scanning fragments found in the Mercury II. Once unlocked, it can be crafted in the Fabricator.

Trivia
- The Parallel Processing Unit was originally named the Purple Vents Salvage and the Ship Wreck Salvage. These items were found exclusively in the Mercury II's Detached Thruster and its Rear portion, respectively.
- Originally, these salvages were designed to repair the Alterra Communications Tower to reestablish communications with the Vesper Station.
- The Purple Vents Salvage was cut and replaced with an Advanced Wiring Kit to repair the communications tower. Subsequently, the Ship Wreck Salvage was also cut, and both were replaced with the current Parallel Processing Unit design.
