The Shattered Dam is a massive Axum dam located on the border between the Intermediary Basin and the Tar Flats.

This dam once controlled the flow of bitumen (colloquially 'tar') into the farmlands below. The resulting flood probably moved slowly enough for anyone downstream to evacuate, but structures would be destroyed or pushed off their foundations.
Failure mode analysis is inconclusive. The dam was well-engineered could tolerate even major natural disasters. The most likely scenario is a detonation beneath the dam, allowing tar to undermine the main arch.
