"The wakemaker is a marine <a href="/wikis/adaptation">adaptation</a> of the Spacemaker EVA thrust pistol system. Travelers should be careful to rest their wrists, elbows and shoulders during prolonged use." — <a href="/wikis/pda">PDA</a> upon first creation
Wakemakers are a pair of handheld tools that allow the player to travel faster underwater.
Recipe
This recipe is unlocked by scanning three Wakemaker fragments found in <a href="/wikis/camp-one">Camp One</a>, the <a href="/wikis/old-habitat">Old Habitat</a>, <a href="/wikis/shallows-wreck-3">Shallows Wreck 3</a>, and scattered debris (see Fragments below).

Appearance
The Wakemaker appears as a gauntlet-type device. A thruster is mounted on the top of each unit, which rotates to match the direction the player is swimming in. The <a href="/wikis/battery">battery</a> is mounted on the back. A <a href="/wikis/flashlight">flashlight</a> is located on the front of each unit, hidden under a panel when not in use. An orange button is present on each grip, which toggles the Flashlight when pressed.
Usage
When equipped, the Wakemakers increase the user's <a href="/wikis/swimming-speed">Swimming Speed</a> to 6m/s. This is the fastest travel speed a player can achieve without the use of a Current or an enterable Vehicle. The speed increase <a href="/wikis/caps">caps</a> out and does not stack with any equipped <a href="/wikis/fins">Fins</a> or the <a href="/wikis/sea-skimmer">Sea Skimmer</a> Biomod. The Wakemakers work at any <a href="/wikis/depth">depth</a>, as well as while swimming on the <a href="/wikis/water">water</a> surface.
The Wakemakers feature a built-in toggleable light which can be useful during cave diving.
The Wakemakers require a Basic Battery to operate.
Fragments
Three fragments are required to unlock the blueprint. They can be found at the following locations:

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Equip to quick-access toolbelt. Active only when selected: extend arms into movement position. Replace battery when discharged.
BACKGROUND
A personal DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) for long-distance transit outside a <a href="/wikis/submarine">submarine</a> without constant finning. The arm-mounted form factor improves maneuverability in tight spaces and prevents <a href="/wikis/pioneers">pioneers</a> from losing the DPV during stressful situations.
Not fully hands-free, but allows inventory management, item pickup, and routine touching/scratching. Do not throttle the Wakemaker until your hands are fully extended in the movement position.
Allegations that the Wakemaker is wrist-mounted so that it can steer expired colonists back to biobeds for recycling are ghoulish and false. User experience remains the design team's north star.

Trivia
- The Wakemakers are <a href="/wikis/subnautica-2">Subnautica 2</a>'s equivalent of the Seaglide found in Subnautica and Below Zero. Apart from their design and the missing hologram map, they appear to be identical in function.
- The Wakemaker's turbines change their spinning direction based on the direction the player is moving.
- Despite each Wakemaker model featuring a battery, only one battery is needed to power both of them.
- Unlike the Seaglide from Subnautica, the Wakemakers work while swimming on the water surface.
