Xanadu is the name of an alien hibernation crypt—otherwise known as a "Crypter vault"—that the Axum built at the base of the World Tree. Axum that lie dormant at Xanadu are referred to as "Crypters."
This location has yet to be implemented in-game, but once added will require players to cross an area known as the Great Trench.
History
At some point in the distant past, a group of Axum known as the Ardhiacs constructed the Axum Observatory in order to spy on the World Tree at Xanadu.
Xanadu was at one point powered by the Karakorum Power Plant. It is currently unknown what effects the sabotaging of the Power Plant may have had on the crypt.
Trivia
- Given the heavy Mongol themes of ''Subnautica 2'', Xanadu likely takes its name from the former Mongolian city of Shangdu, also known as Xanadu.
