Atacamite is a raw material used in crafting. It is a tabular green crystal. According to the PDA, trace substitutions give it anomalous thermo-magnetic behavior, enabling localized cooling.

Recipe
Atacamite can be produced in a Metal Farm.
| Machine | Input | Time | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal Farm | - | 20:00 | 2x Atacamite |
Appearance
Atacamite is a translucent and glossy material, almost resembling quartz, with several protrusions, with most faces of said protrusions having six sides.
Atacamite also appears a deep green around its base, and gets darker as it protrudes outwards, becoming nearly black.
Obtaining
Atacamite can appear as Resource Deposits that are broken with the Feedback Resonator.
Atacamite can be found below the Karakorum Power Plant and inside of the Karakorum Metal Farms.
As Atacamite is only found as a Resource Deposit, the Feedback Resonator is required to obtain it. It cannot be broken by a Sonic Resonator; attempting to do so will trigger a PDA message saying the resonator is not strong enough.
Databank Entry
Atacamite (Cu2Cl(OH)3)
A rare mineral form of dicopper chloride trihydroxide, likely deposited by the efflux of hydrothermal vents.
Atacamite displays unusual quantum properties. Due to its frustrated internal spin states, it cools suddenly when exposed to pulsed magnetic fields. This property (known as magnetocaloric effect) can be exploited for refrigeration*.
The unusual quantum properties of atacamite apparently drew the attention of the Axum. The mineral is present in both alloys and electrical systems in nearby ruins.
Recommendation: investigate role of unusual quantum spin states in Axum technology. Possible divergence point between transgov and Axum technological development.
*This process obeys normal thermodynamics. Consult a physicist for details of the magnetic refrigeration cycle.
