Grav Trap (Subnautica)
![]()
The Grav Trap is a deployable device crafted using the Fabricator. It can only be crafted after its blueprint has been acquired by scanning its Fragments.
It attracts up to twelve small objects and Fauna to itself. Its main uses are to ensnare fast-moving fish, like the Peeper, for the player to catch more easily.

Usage
The Grav Trap takes up 2x2 item slots in the player's Inventory. Although it requires a Battery to be built, it does not use energy. The Grav Trap attracts fish and any small item that can be picked up manually within reach. Plant material, such as Creepvine Seed Clusters, are the exception. It is best to place it on the ocean floor.
It is recommended to harvest the objects caught by the Grav Trap before picking up the sphere. In the open ocean, currents may sweep these items 30 meters or more away if the trap is picked up while they are still attached.
Strategic Tips
- Fish Farming: The Grav Trap can be placed in an environment with an abundance of fish to act as a fish farm, although an Alien Containment tank is much more reliable.
- Alien Vents: If placed beside an Alien Vent, the Grav Trap can provide near infinite food.
- Hunting Alternative: Using the Stasis Rifle or Propulsion Cannon is generally more effective for hunting than the Grav Trap.
