Tools are items craftable at a Fabricator or upgraded at a Modification Station that are used by the Player directly and serve various purposes. They must be equipped to the hotbar to be used, as opposed to Equipment which is equipped through the PDA UI.
Tools can be attached to any Hardpoint for quick access and display.
When a tool is required for a certain action, an icon pop-up of the tool will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. If the tool has not yet been unlocked by the player, a question mark symbol will appear instead.

Note: The specific list of tools is generated dynamically via the ItemTable template in the source. Common tools in Subnautica 2 include the Scanner, Repair Tool, Propulsion Cannon, and others.
