"Copper is key to simple electronics. Bacterial action deposits copper on cave roofs and overhangs." — PDA upon first collection of Copper
Copper is a Raw Material used in the fabrication of electrical equipment.
Appearance
Copper looks like a jagged orange crystal with green oxidation at its bottom.
Obtaining
Copper can appear as:
- Individual items that can be picked up by hand. These yield 1 Copper.
- Resource Nodes that are broken by hand or using any Tool. These yield 3 Copper.
- Resource Deposits that are broken with the Sonic Resonator. These yield 5 Copper.
Copper can be found in the Shallows, Dolerite Spires, Plateaus, Graveyard, Necrolei Hills, Lead Zone, Intermediary Basin and Needler Nest, as well as the Overgrown Ruins.
Note that copper tends to be found on cave walls and ceilings as well as on the underside of overhangs, but not on the seafloor.

Databank Entry
Copper (Cu), element 29.
A soft metal. Good conductor of heat and electricity.
Important feedstock for the fabrication of basic batteries, wiring, and other low-draw electrical systems.
Copper is critical to terrestrial biology. Elevated copper levels In this world's ocean may cause anemia and liver damage.
The distinctive blood-and-oranges taste of this world's seawater Is caused by the oxidized alcohol decanol (a citrus flavor) and amyl vinyl ketone, which is produced by the reaction of copper and iron with floating lipids. The same reaction occurs when copper or iron touches human skin, creating the distinctive 'taste of metal'—or blood.
