| Description | Bipedal mech chassis for heavy industrial duty, dockable via Tadpole. Limited heat capacity. |
The Tadpole Seafrog Chassis is an upcoming chassis for the Tadpole. Currently, the Seafrog Chassis has only been mentioned in text in the game. It was first mentioned in a PDA message the player received after scanning a Tadpole fragment.

Overview
The Seafrog Chassis adds a pair of arms and legs to the Tadpole, drastically altering the vehicle's performance. Unlike the P.R.A.W.N Suit Mk.III present in previous titles, the Seafrog is highly mobile by default, having the ability to thrust, sprint, Dash, and gravitize to surfaces, allowing it to walk up walls.
Usage
Like other Tadpole chassis, the Seafrog can be docked to a Tadpole by driving into it. Unlike other chassis, the Seafrog is affected by gravity and sinks to the ocean floor immediately when attached. Using standard navigational controls, the Seafrog can walk around. Its magnetized limbs allow it to also walk up walls (but not ceilings).
Movement and Heat
- Hover: Pressing
Spacebarallows the Seafrog to sink much slower in the water for a short duration. - Boost: Pressing
Shiftgives a speed boost in the direction it is moving. - Overheat: Both hovering and boosting generate heat. Separate from the Tadpole's regular Energy, the Seafrog has an overheat bar displayed below the Tadpole's power and integrity. Heat reduces slowly over time. When the overheat bar reaches capacity, the Tadpole "explodes" (currently causing no damage) and is disabled for a short duration while it cools down.
Environmental Interactions
- Tar Delta: When landing in tar in the Tar Delta region, the Seafrog's window becomes covered in tar. The coverage depends on fall height; falling from sufficient height blocks visibility entirely. Tar clears up slowly over time.
- Object Manipulation: The Seafrog has arms that can gravitize certain objects (Right Click), such as rocks. Gravitzed objects are carried close to the Seafrog until thrown (Right Click).
- Droopy Flips: If the Seafrog stands on a Droopy Flip, the flip will break and fall after a few seconds, dropping the Seafrog.

FROG Chassis
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Dock Tadpole with FROG chassis. Tracerse seafloor in search of large resource clusters. Scramble up vertical surfaces with limbs. Use integrated propulsion cannon to disassemble blockages.
Monitor heat levels during use.
BACKGROUND
The FROG (Flexible Raniform Orthomimetic Girdle) is a set of limbs for the Tadpole command module: two arms and two digitigrade legs. Designed primarily for extravehicular operations during phasegate construction, it provides the operator with intuitive, full-body handling of even very large masses.
- Hydraulic limbs with integrated propulsion cannon can leap, grab, and carry
- Items and resources picked up by FROG are automatically transferred to operator inventory
- Grips and climbs vertical surfaces
- Can haul large resource clusters to industrial crusher for breakup
- Thrusters allow the FROG to hover and dash
The FROG's flexible plasteel construction carries strain on the hips, while the Tadpole's hull serves as a spinal anchor for the arms. Graphene stress elements adapt the chassis to tolerate water pressure. Hydraulic reservoirs double as a heat sink, reducing complexity and maintenance downtime. If the Tadpole overheats, wait a moment for the system to recover.
Compared to other exosuits, the FROG's design favors simplicity and agility at the expense of complex onboard systems. The goal is for the operator to feel like they are moving a body rather than piloting a vehicle.

Trivia
- On July 30, 2026, senior narrative designer Seth Dickinson held a poll on the Subnautica Discord server to determine which name was more preferable: Seafrog or Bullfrog.
- Though Bullfrog won with 56% of the votes, Dickinson went on to disregard both names in favor of F.R.O.G. Exosuit/Chassis.
