Camp One Overhead

Camp One is a ruined Pioneer Seabase located in the Plateaus, approximately 270 meters NNE of the starting Lifepod. It was one of the first settlements constructed on Proteus, but its original builders reportedly vanished. A deceased fork of Nahema Nakota was part of this group, though her memories of the event were wiped by the NoA.

The camp was eventually abandoned in favor of the Old Habitat. Members of the Jubilee faction briefly returned to the site after a disagreement with Sophie "Butcher" Boucher, before relocating elsewhere. Following their departure, the plateau beneath the base collapsed, leaving the structure broken and partially flooded. The area is now patrolled by Nibbler Mangos and a solitary Marrowbreach.

Exterior

The exterior of Camp One is overgrown with barnacles, BFJs, and small Coral Dome growths. The structure is heavily damaged, with bent corridors and at least one room collapsed at an extreme angle.

Interior

Corridors

The corridors make up the majority of the base's footprint and are largely empty, though they contain several useful scans:

A broken Biobed is found in the corridor near the barracks. Numerous Notes are scattered throughout the interior, written both before and during the Jubilee's occupation.

Barracks

The barracks consist of a single large room connected to the main corridor loop.

  • Left Side: Shelves and an alcove with three sets of bunkbeds.
  • Right Side: A Trashcan and a couch containing the Databank entry Rhiannon - "Cartographer's notes".
  • Shrine: The back of the room features a shrine dedicated to the World Tree, consisting of a World Tree Relic placed before a Painted Tree Poster mural, illuminated by a light. Blankets and pillows nearby suggest recent use by the Jubilee.

Chart Room

The chart room has collapsed at an extreme angle but remains partially air-filled. To enter, the player must press a button located in a corridor filled with Pent outside the room, which floods the compartment.

Inside, players can find scans for:

A blackbox belonging to Temuliin "Tuba" Tobukha is located in the corner. A functioning Biolab is also present, with Jubilee notes on the wall behind it.

Blueprints & Fragments

The following blueprints and fragments can be acquired at Camp One:

Location

Camp One is situated between the Plateaus and the Shallows at a depth of 25m.

Databank Entries

Camp One

A partially disassembled and flooded corridor network.

  • Human remains in the sediment suggest it was a failed habitat.
  • Basic architecture suggests that the builders were working with a limited set of blueprints.
  • Signs of more recent rehabitation, with a larger blueprint set.

Rhiannon - "Cartographer's notes"

Cartographer's notes, Dafydiin Rhiannon.

I took a Mongolian-style name. Rhiannon, daughter of Dafyd. But I was still staging at the Alpha Andromedae örtöö when kharaa hit. I never made it to a colony.

So Proteus is my first time living by the Mongolian ethos—close to the land, learning the rules of the universe-game by playing it. And the only maps here are the ones I make.

I joined the Jubilee because Anita's right. We can't adapt to Proteus if we're bottled up in quarantined bases. Out here we can live with the ocean—drink from the water slugs, eat from what we scavenge, and sleep in the air pockets.

The biosphere will help us. The angel combs gave us the enzymes to digest Protean tissue. Somehow the Proteavirus can mediate between our biologies.

This whole time Sophie had us fighting against Proteus. And all we needed to do was... let the planet in.
